The Weekly Diatribe…
Feb.
1, 2010 - Jak se maj!!! Happy Monday afternoon everyone! Busy day and I'm just getting started on the update. Whew! Work is going well so the time flies by. Nice to have plenty of work, that's for sure. Spent some time up in Marinette last week and that led to some new business, so that's pretty cool. Nice when what you plan works out and leads to more opportunities...
Had a good weekend! Headed out Sunday morning to Zumbo's ranch to chase bunnies. Beautiful day. Temps were probably in the low to mid teens, so it was plenty warm enough. The snow was pretty good and you could walk on top of it most the time, but occasionally you'd break through, and that makes for hard walking. We saw lots of bunny sign, but no bunnies. The sign all seemed to be pretty old too, but since it's been a few weeks since we got snow, it’s hard to tell for sure. Despite the bunnies not cooperating, it sure was a nice walk out in the woods... Thanks Zumbo!
I tried to print out The President's mother's copy of the newsletter, but the black
ink in my printer was running low, but luckily Zumbo had an extra copy there, so I grabbed it and delivered it to The President's mansion. Unfortunately, no one was home, so I left it on the counter with a note. I sure hope it gets there!
Oh yeah, Zumbo also mentioned that he got his turkey permit late last week, so hopefully I get mine soon as well... Mentioned a possible turkey seminar, which made me think
that we need to get the Fish Camp meeting scheduled! I'll try to get an inquiry out there as to when that might be possible based on schedules...
Watched the Pro Bowl last night. Well, I watched most of it. I caught the entire first half, and then most of the second half. Not bad, but it's pretty
hard not to see a lot of those guys are going 1/3 speed or less. Kinda made me think of All Star Wrestling. But I think the QB's and the WR's were going full bore, and that led to pretty fun offensive minded play. A-Rod did well, but his two backup QB's, McNabb especially, were less than stellar... One more game and the NFL season is over. Sad...
Badger hockey team is doing really well. They split with UMD this weekend, but overall are ranked #2 in the country. Fun team to watch too...
Ordered my boat registration last week. I got a notice via email and I was able to order it online. How cool is that?
My bike project is going pretty good. I got everything "welded", sanded down, and primed. Now I'm waiting for my overpriced touchup paint to arrive in the mail and I can hopefully finish it up. I'm pretty good with the welding and sanding, but I kinda suck at the painting part, so we'll see how it turns out. Luckily, it’s a 27 year old bike, so who really cares. But I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to these things, so unfortunately, if it’s bad, I'll notice...
Had a GREAT meal last Thursday at Red Lobster for sis's birthday. I tell ya', you can't go wrong there...
Well, one half of the Jack/Ass team must be getting ready to get overseas, cause he's emptying his email box out. Good stuff too... He's what he
sent.
First off, a new dictionary item:
Favred (FAHrv'd), v. To bring one's team to the brink of victory through brilliant maneuver, but to lose by committing a colossal unforced blunder. Example: The Democrats favred their chances for health care reform when they lost the Massachusetts Senate seat.
Next, a little safety

SAFTEY BULLETIN
Finally, a new T-Shirt to remember the 2009 NFL Playoffs:

You can tell Brent Fart has lost all the respect he had based on the creativity of the insults he's getting...
Hey, got my "Raise You a Dime" print in the mail. It's great! I went to Goodwill and found what "I think" is the perfect frame for it. Its "vintage" 1967 if you ask me. I didn't get it hung up in the shop yet, but I figured out the perfect spot for it. Stop over and check it out some time!
So, why are you fat?

The Double Coronary Burger
A burger topped with five slices of bacon, four slices
of cheese, two fried eggs, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion between two
grilled cheese sandwiches.
Yep, that would explain it!
On tap this week:
1 Boris Yeltsin’s Birthday (1931). Doing multiple shots of vodka on stage was one of his populist campaign tricks.
Chilled double Stolis.
2 Groundhog Day. If he sees his shadow, get loaded. If he doesn’t see his shadow, get loaded.
The Shadow Knows
1 oz black sambuca
1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
1/2 oz Bacardi 151 Rum
Layer Bailey’s over sambuca. Top with Bacardi.
3 Heroes Day (Mozambique). “Claret is the liquor for boys; port for men; but he who aspires to be a hero must drink brandy.”—Samuel Johnson.
Heroic amounts of brandy.
4 The Bacardi Distillery is founded in Cuba (1862). There’s a bat on the label because bats would pass out in the distillery’s vats.
Bacardi and Coke.
5 Bob Marley Day (Jamaica). Touch base with your weedhead buddies. Red Stripe.
6 Babe Ruth’s Birthday (1895). Contrary to popular belief, he wasn’t really pointing to where he was going to hit the ball. He was just trying to get a beer vendor's attention.
Overpriced crappy beer in a plastic cup.
7 National Hangover Awareness Day. Some of us ‘celebrate’ this ‘holiday’ every morning.
Hair of the Dog
1/2 oz. tequila
1/2 oz. whiskey
1/4 oz. Tabasco Sauce
1/4 oz. salt
Pour Tabasco, tequila and whiskey into a shot glass. Lay salt on top.
Hair of the Dog??? Are you kidding me? That ain't hair, that's death in a shot glass!
Another big week coming up. Work is busy, and Saturday would have been my brother Chris's birthday. So have a beer on him...
Actually, I guess it's not that big a week... There's the Superbowl too, but not much else going on... Big day next
Monday (hard to believe) but I might be out of town, so don't be surprised if there's no update...
and that I'm hungover...
After last week's epic update, I guess you were due for a letdown... Anyway, before I sign off, a few words of wisdom for our junior membership...
"illegitimi non carborundum." ~ Latin Proverb
You junior members will have to look that one up...
As Red would say, "Keep your stick on the ice"!
